Congressional Schedule

This week, the House and Senate are in recess for the Thanksgiving holiday and will resume on Monday, November 26th.   President Obama met privately with House and Senate leaders last Friday on how to deal with the expiring tax cuts and pending across-the–board, automatic spending cuts and other policies commonly called the fiscal cliff. The issue is expected to dominate the lame duck session of Congress. The target date for adjournment is December 14th, although many expect that Congress may stay in session even longer to try and reach agreement on these difficult issues.

Congress is in recess

Congress is still in recess and many Members are in their home states and districts, available to meet with constituents and holding town hall meetings and other events. Now is a good time to contact them to reinforce the importance of the Medicaid program for people with I/DD and the need to protect the program from deep cuts.
