Last week, the House held two hearings on Social Security and Medicare. The first, a joint hearing of the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Social Security and the House Committee on the Judiciary, looked at the role of Administrative Law Judges in reviewing applications for SSI and SSDI. The second, a hearing of the House Budget Committee, looked at the fiscal sustainability of Social Security and Medicare. Witnesses discussed a variety of proposals to ensure the long-term solvency of the Social Security and Medicare trust funds. Click here to learn more about Social Security reform proposals.
