Senate Vote Expected this Week

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) announced that the Senate will vote on the House-passed FY 2012 Budget Resolution this week. The House Budget Resolution (referred to as the “Ryan plan”) includes four major provisions that are very troubling to the disability community: 1) cutting Medicaid by $750 billion over 10 years and converting it to a block grant program; 2) replacing Medicare with a voucher program for younger beneficiaries ; 3) eliminating over the long term most federal government programs outside of health care, Social Security, and defense spending because the cuts are so deep; 4) repealing and defunding the Affordable Care Act. The Senate is not expected to pass the House’s FY 2012 Budget Resolution.
