Negotiations continue on federal funding for the current fiscal year as the Continuing Resolution is set to expire on Friday, April 8. Some House Members are insisting on cuts in excess of $60 billion as well as including policies blocking funding for implementation of health care reform and other policies. The Administration and the Senate have countered with a target closer to $30 billion in cuts. Due to rule changes in the House, an agreement would need to be made and released by this evening in time to vote before Friday. If an agreement is not reached, then Congress can either pass another temporary spending measure or shut down the federal government.
