Settlement Agreement Reached with Movie Theatre Chain

The U.S. Department of Justice entered into a settlement agreement with AMC Entertainment Inc, the second largest movie theater chain in the country with about 5,300 screens. AMC agreed to provide accessible seating in its stadium-style theaters for people who use wheelchairs and their companions. Frequently, the only accessible seating was at the front of the theater. Under the agreement, seating will be further back so that people have unobstructed views of the screen and can enjoy going to the movies just as everyone else does. See DOJ’s press release at
