Disability Employment Initiative to Provide $15M to State Workforce Agencies

Last week, the Department of Labor (DOL) announced the availability of approximately $15 million in grants to state workforce agencies to develop flexible and innovative strategies to increase the participation of people with disabilities in existing career pathways programs in the public workforce system. These grants represent the fifth round of funding through the Disability Employment Initiative, a joint program of the Labor Department’s Employment and Training Administration and Office of Disability Employment Policy. Eligible applicants are public state workforce agencies. DOL anticipates awarding eight grants of between $1.5 and $2.5 million, to be spent over a 42-month period. Applications are due July 8, 2014.
