House Ways and Means Committee Hearing on Program Finances

The House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Social Security held a hearing last Thursday on Social Security’s finances. Witnesses testified on proposals to ensure Social Security’s long-term solvency, including having all newly hired state and local workers be covered by and pay into the program, raising current caps on earnings that are taxed, and expanding the kinds of income and benefits that are taxed.
