House to Vote on Bill to Repeal Funding for the Health Insurance Exchanges

The House is expected to vote on H.R. 1213, a bill to repeal mandatory funding provided to states to establish health insurance exchanges under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). This bill, introduced by Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI), seeks to remove funding for one of the cornerstones of the health care reform law. Exchanges will be the market places for individuals with no employer-provided or unaffordable employer-provided coverage to buy coverage starting in 2014. The Arc opposes this bill and any measure to repeal or defund the ACA. Click here to read about the ACA’s most important provisions for people with disabilities.
