House and Senate Committee to hold hearings on the ACA’s impact

The Budget Committee hearing entitled, The Fiscal Consequences of the New Health Care Law, will take place on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 10:00 am EST.  The chief actuary of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will testify along with the Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and a fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center.  The hearing can be viewed live at http://budget.house.gov/HearingSchedule/

At the same time, the Ways and Means Committee will be holding a hearing entitled “The Health Care Law’s Impact on Jobs, Employers, and the Economy.”  The hearing will examine “the economic and regulatory burdens imposed by the enactment and implementation of the law.  It will explore the impact on jobs stemming from the new taxes and new federal regulatory requirements.  It will also analyze the impact of the employer mandate on job creation.”  No information is yet available on the panel who will be providing testimony.

On Thursday, January 27, the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee will hold a hearing entitled “The Affordable Care Act: The Impact of Health Insurance Reform on Health Care Consumers“.  Kathleen Sebelius, the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, will testify.  For more information, see http://help.senate.gov/hearings/hearing/?id=a3f52183-5056-9502-5de6-a9c486cfa17d
