House vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act postponed

In the wake of the shootings targeted at Representative Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ), the House leadership has decided to postpone all votes this week.  While the planned vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA) this week was expected to be successful in the House, it faced a Democratic Senate and a Presidential veto. However, it is only one of a number of strategies that House and Senate Republicans intend on using to defeat the law. Other strategies include defunding portions of the law and the federal agencies charged with implementing it through the appropriations process. The Arc and UCP strongly support the ACA and intend to enlist our grassroots networks in opposing its repeal in the coming weeks and months.
