House and Senate pass another short term continuing resolution

The House and Senate quickly passed a three-day extension of the Continuing Resolution which funds the federal government through Tuesday, December 21, 2010. This will allow more time for the House and Senate to negotiate a longer term agreement. Earlier this month the House cleared a one-year continuing resolution. The Senate had been developing an omnibus package with all the remaining appropriations bills rolled together; however, in the end, they were unable to find enough Republican support to pass it in the Senate.
